Lisa Cohen, DDS
Dr. Cohen is from St. Louis, Missouri. She came to the Washington, DC area in 1993 to attend Georgetown University where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. She worked as a paralegal for two years and during that time was exposed to dentistry after meeting persuasive and excited members of the profession. She then attended the University of Maryland College of Dentistry and graduated in 2003. She was third in her class, graduated Magna Cum Laude and received numerous clinical and academic awards, including being inducted into the dental honor society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon. She subsequently received her Oral and Maxillofacial surgery training at the Washington Hospital Center. Dr. Cohen was trained extensively in dentoalveolar, trauma, reconstructive, oral pathology, orthognathic and dental implant surgeries. She served as Chief Resident during her last year and completed the program in 2007. Also in 2007, she accompanied Dr. Stark to Cambodia to aid in the treatment of craniofacial anomalies at the Angkor Hospital for Children. She is now an attending at the Washington Hospital Center. Dr. Cohen is board certified and has been a member of Maryland Oral Surgery Associates since 2007. Dr. Cohen is an active member of several organizations, including the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Dental Association, and the National Dental Association. She serves on the executive board of the Southern Maryland Dental Association and the Greater Washington Academy of Women Dentists. Dr. Cohen resides in Washington, DC with her husband and their two young children.
Zachary Jones, DDS
Dr. Jones graduated with honors from Duke University with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry. He obtained his Dental degree from Stony Brook University, and completed a General Practice Residency in Brooklyn, NY. Dr. Jones then pursued further training with a four-year Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at MedStar Washington Hospital Center in the nation’s capital. He served as the chief resident in his final year at this Level I Trauma Center. During his time at the rigorous 4-year program at Medstar, Dr. Jones also did rotations at John Hopkins Hospital, Children’s National Medical Center, National Institutes of Health (NIH), and DC Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Dr. Jones’ surgical residency provided him extensive training pertaining to the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery including: mouth, jaws, and face including dental implants, bone grafting, orthognathic surgery (corrective jaw surgery), pathology, maxillofacial trauma, dentoalveolar surgery, and anesthesia. Dr. Jones enjoys volunteering and has participated in international outreach in Jamaica. Dr. Jones has done extensive medical research during his training, as well as authoring a medical presentation at Stony Brook University. In his free time, he enjoys watching and attending sporting events (particularly Duke basketball), snowboarding, golfing, and spending time with his family and friends.
